M.I.L.L.S. is a ministry of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church serving pre-kindergarten students. The School Committee sets and maintains standards for the school, but is directly responsible to the Board of Directors and the church. All personnel are screened and must demonstrate superior character, patience, and ability with God-given love for toddlers, while encouraging excellence and touching hearts, both for now and the future. Students are placed in small classes according to their appropriate age level. They experience both an open and closed classroom environment. The open classroom introduces children to working with blocks, books, puzzles, and dramatic play. The closed classroom teaches Bible stories, Scripture memory, the alphabet, numbers, shapes, and colors. Uses of all the child's senses are incorporated into the daily curriculum. The child's first experience with school is enjoyable, while providing a solid educational foundation. Communication with the parents is aided by progress reports, Parent-Teacher fellowships, home visits (if needed) and conferences .
Our Story
M.I.L.L.S. opened its doors for the first time in October 1997 with one student. At the end of that year, there were a total of 25 students. We are thankful to the Lord for the blessings He has bestowed on the school in its 27 years of operation with continual increase. In 2000 the school was operating with 5 classes, 78 students, 8 staff members, before and after school care and a vibrant Parent Support Group. In 2002 the Executive Board of Directors was formed. The school expanded to include a total of 12 classrooms, 150 students, a library, gymnasium, and computer room driving an expansion of the facility capacity to a total of 300 students in 2004. During the 2013-14 year the school became a member of the Orange County Public System as a Public Charter School from Kindergarten to Fifth grade. The Development and Primary Phase of the Academic Program, K2 -- VPK continues under M.I.L.L.S. Child Development Center.
