
Dr. Larry G. Mills is a native of Detroit, MI, and has been married to Lady Bernice Mills for 37 years. Dr. Mills and Lady Bernice have a blended family of 12 children.Dr. Larry G. Mills began his pastorate at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, at the age of 36, September 4, 1988. He was officially installed on September 25, 1988.
Dr. Mills attended Wayne State University, University of Phoenix and Bethany Theological Seminary. He holds undergraduate degrees in Business Management and Religious Education, Master degrees in Organizational Management and Sacred Theology, as well as a Doctorate in Sacred Theology. A strong advocate of education and spreading God’s word, Dr. Mills is a Certified Instructor for the West Coast Baptist Association, Florida General Baptist Convention, National Baptist Congress of Christian Education and the International Theological Seminary.
Dr. Mills has over 37 years of experience in Ministry. He served as the faithful Pastor of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church for 32 years. Upon retirement, Dr. Mills became Pastor Emeritus of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church.
Under the leadership of Dr. Mills, Mt. Sinai experienced tremendous growth in ministry including the completion of 3 building phases which now provides a comprehensive development center, gymnasium, foreign and home outreach ministries, certified and state accredited school for 15 months-VPK, free community sign language classes, and much more. In 2020, Dr. Mills completed a 3.5 million debt elimination campaign, which allowed the Church to be debt free.
Teaching and preaching, Dr. Mills’ ministry has taken him to several states and abroad including Virgin Islands, Israel, Germany, Rome, Jamaica, the Bahamas, South Africa, Egypt, Greece, Haiti, and Liberia.
Dr. Mills currently serves as an OUC Commissioner and demonstrate his passion for helping others in the Orlando community by sitting on numerous boards: Boy Scouts Executive Council, Metropolitan Orlando Urban League, affiliated with the local chapter of the NAACP, and the Inter-Denominational Faith Council. He also served as the former President of the African American Council of Christian Clergy (AACCC). He is a lifetime member of the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity.
Prior to retiring from Lockheed Martin Corporation in February 2007, Dr. Mills experienced a rewarding career for 23 years in which he served as a Corporate Vice President of Human Resources and Business Conduct for Corporate Operations. His career accumulated numerous years of experience in human resource related duties. His role provided leadership for all Human Resource functions, Facilities Operations, Environmental, Health & Safety, International Operations in England, and Ethics for four divisions.Dr. Mills’ tireless efforts have been recognized by several notable entities and awards including the 2019 Pappy Kennedy Lifetime Achievement. He is the Author of a book entitled, The Recovery of God’s Purpose For The 21st Century Church and contributing writing in one professional text book, Marriage Matters, It’s God’s Will..
